Internet Marketing for Newbies

When you embrace the resolution to try out your hand at internet marketing, the first thought may be to create an internet marketing product or service. This is normal among newbie ‘net marketers, because they know they buy marketing info products, so others will, too. Spend some time learning about PPC search engine internet marketing and find the right resources to teach you the needed skills for marketing on the internet successfully.

While it may be true that the internet marketing niche is already too saturated, it doesn’t mean that most people have the strong PPC search engine internet marketing skills required to succeed at a high level. If you can create a unique slant on an old internet marketing idea, then you can definitely prosper just as well as the others who started out in this niche several years ago.

As most people know, the Web is always changing, and new things are being created that give you an opportunity to break out onto the internet marketing scene with a unique product or service that sells well despite the number of competitors marketing on the internet.

If you have a great concern that you may not be successful marketing on the internet, then you may also want to consider staying away from the internet marketing niche and paving a path in another business vertical, such as dog care, parenting, or financial advice. As long as there is traffic and interest, then any business niche can be profitable.

A very common approach to PPC search engine internet marketing is a “net new” marketer has a specialty in an area outside of internet marketing. These marketers then launch a highly successful information product or service in their area of expertise, and they write a “tell-all” e-book showing other Internet marketers how to do what they did.

Be secure in the knowledge that there’s really no way for a specific internet marketing niche to become fully saturated. As long as there is continued interest and enough strong demand, then there’s always a way to come up with a new slant for an old idea. Print media publications do this all the time. It is not uncommon for a writer to submit a story to a magazine, and they have to take an old idea and convince an editor they can write about it in a fresh manner.

Many people marketing on the internet routinely try to convince their competition that their internet marketing niche is, indeed saturated. Why would they do this? It’s because they don’t want the competition from you or anyone else looking to PPC search engine internet marketing. To determine if an internet marketing niche is truly saturated do your research first hand. Use third party information sites and see how many products or services are available that are comparable to your niche marketing idea you have as a new internet marketer.

During your independent research of marketing on the internet, if you discover twenty e-books on affiliate marketing or PPC search marketing, ask yourself, “Could I turn out a novel slant or a improved way of doing this thing?” Being successful marketing on the internet requires that you take the first step and give it a try – and you may discover that you succeed over your competitors for the simple reality that the consumers want someone with a novel to approach to provide them with guidance, expertise, and information.

Successfully Compete in Internet Marketing

Can a the small guy compete in Internet Marketing?

You may believe that thousands of people are flocking online daily to become a search engine optimization specialist and seek out their equal position amidst internet marketing giants who have created a virtual kingdom of passive profits.

But while they may be looking into ppc search engine internet marketing, many prospective Internet marketers are too intimidated to actually do anything to hone their skills and become a search engine optimization specialist. The primary reason for the hesitation? They don’t where to start or know how to produce a product with an unusual or unique slant.

Most newbie search engine marketers believe that if one person is already successfully selling an information product on affiliate marketing or ppc search engine internet marketing, then there’s no room at the top, so they drop their dreams and return to the shackles of a 9-5 hourly grind down in the entrenched corporate world.

Quite a few potential internet marketers dream if it is possible for an unknown to burst upon the scene and become a hit based on what they know that’s better or different from what “Big Guy internet marketing Guru” has to say? It is more possible than many people know.

But in order to succeed in ppc search engine internet marketing, the fresh new Internet marketer has to come onto the marketplace with insurmountable confidence so that his or her target audience will believe the message that’s being sold.

A guru isn’t someone who knows better how to do something. A guru, in the Internet marketing world, is someone who understands how things work to succeed and/or someone who has been earning a living steadily online for a long amount of time and therefore knows his or her “stuff.”

The fresh faced search engine optimization specialist may be new to selling a product, but that doesn’t mean he or she hasn’t worked online for months or years to learn the ropes of ppc search engine internet marketing. If you were able to work online and learn internet marketing well enough that it allowed you to succeed in a short amount of time, then that makes you a guru in your own right.

Many people are, in reality, turned off by the phrase “guru” and become bored of reading about someone’s expertise. Newness is a nice thing in the arena of Internet marketing, so before you throw in the towel and call it quits, make sure you at least give your dreams a chance at success and see if the public is willing to invest in your knowledge.

Recognize that passion and zeal boils over, even on a static web page. So if you believe in your product, then it doesn’t matter what niche you’re targeting for your Internet marketing efforts – your marketplace will embrace your positive attitude and carry the torch for you into the realm of profits and “guru status” yourself!

Create a web site

Spend some time planning the web site layout and design, before you create a web site or e-commerce web site. Plan your website design with your business objectives and target audience in mind. Clearly define if you will use your new web site as a vehicle to provide information, or will you build an e-commerce web site to sell your products and services?

A simple way to create a web site is to use index cards to map out each potential web page. Index cards are easy to rearrange to help you with your web site design. Whatever your objective is for the web site design, plan to build your web site professionally, and remember that it is most important to have your site very well organized with simple navigation and clear “calls to action”.

With your web site design, keep your site’s theme colors appropriate to your business topic. Colors are representative of your business image. Do not use too many different colors when you create a web site. All of the colors you choose need to compliment each other. Photographs and images can help you personalize and promote your ideas, products, and services. In the website design, make your site text easy to read using text colors that contrast well with your website background.

When you create a web site, web content is extremely critical. The web content must be suitable to the planned purpose of your web site design theme. The web content needs to target your desired audience and support your web site objectives.

It is best to use a single subject or theme per web page in the website design. Each page should contain at least 250 words, but do not overwhelm your target audience with too much information. Create a web site with a simple layout and graphics that clearly communicate your message with a clear calls to action. Build your website home page to be responsive to the needs of your target audience. Start building your website or e-commerce website today!

Effectively build a keyword list

There are a multitude of factors that should be considered when you optimize your web site. When developing great web copy that will provide valuable visitor information and great natural search engine results, begin by building a keyword list. Here are a few ideas to help get your keyword research started.

Here are the steps I use to optimize a website:

1. Identify website themes.
Look for brand names of the products or services that are unique to that particular website. Remember, the website name itself is a brand name too. Then determine the main themes of the website.

2. Create a keyword list
Write down all the keywords related to the brand and themes of the website site. Try to also include keyword phrases in your keyword research. There may be millions of web sites that are similar; therefore you need to sharpen your focus. Search for the niche keywords and keyword phrases that support your brand and main themes. If your niche is too competitive you will have a harder time getting high search engine rankings. Ideally you want your site to appear on the first page for one of the major search engines…Google, MSN, ASK or Yahoo.

3. Use a keyword selector tool.
Pick related keywords, these are words that are something like the main keyword list you created above. You may be able to blend them into the content of your site as it grows. Keywords that have a very narrow focus may not be a popular search term. When I broaden my search to comprise themes and categories, I repeatedly find hundreds of words that relate to the topics that work with my keyword list. To find out how often people are searching on the identified keywords you need to use a keyword selector tool.

I use a combination of both free and paid tools. The real work is understanding the keyword selector tool and the results that they generate. It’s not always the highest search results that will give you the best keywords.

Keys to successful writing for the web

Understanding that content and written articles meant for business print does not invariably render suitably to the online universe of effective writing for the web. The rules that work on writing organic web content for online business websites are different than those for business text articles; excellent content created off-line does not consequently measure up to quality natural web copy for the small business website.

Three keys for writing successful natural web copy:

1. Be brief. Because most web readers skim through pages, write less content. Independent research has shown that many readers prefer to scan an article before reading it thoroughly. Keep your organic web content short, less than 500 words; this may allow more people to read the complete web content, perhaps resulting in more returning visitors to your business website. Include only the most vital points or calls to action that you want to make; text is more difficult to read online, so keep it short and sweet.

2. Make the most of headings and lists. People are willing to scan natural web copy and web articles instead of reading them verbatim from the first word to the last. Produce content that is easy for the visitor to find what they’re looking for by using headings, bold type, and lists. Understandable cleanly written lists makes it easier to skim through web content and let them read only what they are truly interested in.

3. Create clear “calls to action’ and links. One of the main tools that breeds successful writing for the web is to take advantage of the reality that print writers don’t have is the ability to link to other applicable sources. Organic web content such as text or images; can be linked to other web pages, photos, videos, sounds, and other significant natural web copy. Make your links stand out by making them obvious. A universal way to highlight a text link is by using a different color from the standard text and by providing a hover effect, such as underlining the link and changing it’s color, when the reader’s place their cursor over the highlighted link.

Using the steps highlighted above and including links to resource pages, news articles, audio and video, forums, and white papers helps develop meaningful natural web copy. Your website visitors can decide which links to follow and which links to skip using your web article as their basis of information on that specific topic. When successfully writing for the web, your readers should feel that reading your organic web content enhanced their reading experience!

Plan Your Website

The subsequent article contains information that will assist you when you build a web site. When I speak with clients regarding their
business websites, I strongly recommend that when they create a web site, it needs to uphold their business objectives. To me, their professional website is an extension of their overall business and must support their business objectives. Following a review of their overall enterprise objectives and evaluating their website, I then address some of these issues:

  • How will their business make money?
  • Who is their primary intended audience?
  • What do they want their business website to accomplish?
  • How can their web site be used to help their business?

If your are looking to make your own web site out of necessity, will you ponder this, too many professional sites are poorly planned and not very well thought out leaving these sites under-utilized. A successful business website is a more than just a nice design. To many business owners, it’s better to build a web site, any website, no matter how poorly it is thought out and designed. To be truly successful online, and generate ROI, you must look at how your website will positively support your business.

When your business is all web-based, it is much more important to identify your website’s objectives and how it will support your small business. A well designed and clearly defined website operating a web-based business will not distract your visitors, it will draw their eyes to those actions which make your business money.

Clearly identified “calls to action” are critically important your overall plan and to website conversions. When you build a web site, remember that success and value from your web site must be monitored and measured. Your website metrics should support the core metrics of your overall business. As an example of a metric, you might want to measure the number of unique website visitors to the number of website generated leads.

I hope this information above was useful. Thanks for reading, and if you make your own web site or have it done professionally, good luck creating a successful website that supports your business objectives.
